when i first heard of the news of osama was killed i didn't believe it. I kept seeing all these statuses and twits about it so i had to go fin out for myself. i went to startibune and there is was a picture of the man and i mini story about what happened. I turned the tv on right away to hear president obamas announcement and my mom and i were shocked. i kept thinking of 9/11 and how it impacted our lives. I also thought of terror because i kept thinking the al-qaida will act out in revenges and do something just like 9/11. i sat there and discussed with my mom about how and what this meant. she told me the story of where she was and what she remembered from that day 10 years ago. she told me that she was at the office working on a document with belgium when her assistant came in and told her to come out to the break room and watch the tv. when she got out there she saw the images of the planes and the damage that was done. she immedialty called my dad who was watching it the same time. they made sure that they were okay and then my dad came to school to get me my brother and my sister. i got pulled out of class by my dad as he gave me a huge hug. i had no idea what was happening. my teacher was gone because another teacher came to get her so i just left and in the car ride home my dad explained what he knew and what this means.
Back to Osama. I was reading the Story on startibune and i was shocked that he was hiding in a mansion near he capital in a local city. i felt stupid. i kept reading, when i came across that the president was tipped in september and we didn't do anything till know? i know all the process of getting action to take place and making sure it was 100% him but i think it would have been a little sooner than 7 months. when i heard that our navy seals had gotten him in the head i was satisfied the what the turn out was. I'm just a little sacred for what's going to happen next. but i am glad that the most wanted terrorist is dead and we ca move on.

Night vs. Maus 1&2
I liked reading Night rather than Maus. Night was telling the story of a slave in the first person and in order of how it happened. Maus was telling it in 3rd person and jumping back and forth in form of falshbacks. it was hard for me to focus on the stroy line of Maus because I could not figure out where or what time they were in. In Night, I always knew the general area and time of the wearabouts of Elie. I also didnt like the way that Maus had it as mice and cats. It made it very confusing because I could not relate and often felt that it was just a fiction story. The picture weren't very clear and it was very hard to picture where they were because of the mice and cats. Night distinctaly explained the places and I could myself picture what he was going through, which is much more relevent to me because its my opionon not the authers. When I read Night I feel as if I'm right with Elie in his tremendous and dangerous journy to freedom. Whereas I couldn't with Vladek because the picture couldnt describe the grusome condition with pictures. Night did that very well and that is the main reason why I liked it more than Maus.
I suggest that you have them only read Night because I feel that it describes the Holocost way better than Maus does. Night captures the fear and actuality of what was happeneing during this massive massacure in history. I feel like Maus does not capture this. The Maus books are more for children so that they could understand this even without seeing the grusome pictures. Night i feel is a more appropriate fit for high school students because it is way more mature and I believe that high school students are cappible of reading this great book. All in all, I enjoyed this Unit but would have prefered to just read Night rather than both Night and Maus.

Restrepo
- When Restrepo gets killed on their first mission out is just like when Jenkins dies on their way back from the first mission
- How when they got to the valley they had to be briefed on the situation just as the troop of perry and peewee had to be brief when they landed in vietnam
- When perry and his platoon were in the hooch after the death of Jenkins has the same atmosphere as the hooch of the troops
- When brew died in battle they prayed for him just like when the troop that transferred in from the massacre prayed for their lost soldiers
- in both the book and the movie you could tell there was a brother like bond that happened with the soldiers. they would do anything for one another
- the book and the movie describe how the soldiers were very scared of battle. the book by the description of the feeling and the movie by the look on their faces
- when the troops continue there push to achieve the O.P Restrepo is like how the battalions had to keep pushing back the Vietcong's to get their land back
- Both the troops and the platoon celebrate the death of a brother. the platoon celebrates by cake and the troops by shooting flares off and saying prays for them
- When the soldiers play PSP or Sing and dance its just like how perry and peewee play checkers or volleyball.
- At the end of the book and movie they are really happy to be leaving the hell hole they were in and go back to the world
During the past two weeks of reading and watching war stories really brings to life how much soldiers put on the line for our lives to be normal here over in the states. The book demonstrates how nervous everyone gets when they get into firefights and how brutal it is to be hit or killed during battle. When Perry gets hit the first time, I could almost relate to his pain of the ripping of flesh just by the way it was described, the way he said how it felt like a iron on his wrist just made me think of how bad that would hurt. When i saw how many firefights the troop in the movie got into made me realize how severe it is over in the middle east. The way the soldiers had to tell their family they were doing fine to make their loved one not think there in danger all the time, really stood out because we always assume it not as bad because of what soldiers tell us but when they showed how he lied and the real truth to the war, I just was in au. These wonderful stories of war brought out the reality and true meaning of wars to help me understand how the people put their lives on the line for me.

Siddhartha jumps From Teacher to Teacher
In the book Siddhartha, the main character Siddhartha bounces from teacher to teacher on his path to nirvanna. "On the same day, Siddhartha informed the eldest Samana of his decieon to leave." This qoute demestrates that he jumps from teacher to teacher because he feels like he learns everything from the teacher and wants to go and continue his learning with another teacher. The same thing kind of happened in my life because in 3rd grade I switvched classes 3 different times. I did this because I didnt have any friend in my first class, and when Idont have friend in my class I dont participate and therefore cant learn anything new. When Siddharta leaves the Samans he goes to a buddha called Gotama, the same thing happens there that happened with the Samans. "...I must judge for myself. I must choose and reject..." In this qoute Siddhartha approaches the Illusion One and says that he is like him and cannot reach nirvanna by teaching but by finding it on his own. I felt the same way about golf. I was struggling deeply with my swing and getting the ball to fly right. Inever could get it right with all the teachings my dad set me up with. One day at the range Ijust worked on it until Ireached the swing Iwanted and none of the teachings provided me with this they gave me little pointers but none could forsure fix this swing. It is the same with siddharta and the budda. He has to leave him and his teachings to figure out his goal on his own. throughtout the first part of the book siddharta is going from teacher to teacher trying to learn the ways but realizes that he needs to find his path to nirvanna on his own and not guided by teachers.

Macebeth a man or not?
1. Lady Macbeth
What beast was't, then,
That made you break this enterprise to me?
When you durst do it, then you were a man;
(Act 1 scene 7 lines 53-56)
Context: Lady Macbeth is getting very angry and mad at Macbeth for being afraid to do the deed of killing the King. She calls him a coward for being afraid to kill the king and then she goes and actually finishes the deed herself because of his cowardliness.
Interpretation: In this quote Lady Macbeth cannot believe Macbeth broke the promise to her and is implying that what could stop him from doing this other than a beast which would be very unlikely. Shakespeare then states that when he finally does the deed then Macbeth will be a man.
2. Malcom
Which the false man does easy, I'll to England
( Act 2 scene 4 Lines 162-163)
Context: When Malcom flees to england after his father dies. Him and His Brother Donalbain go in different directions because Donalbain is going to Ireland.
Interpretation: I think that this quote shows how not to be a man instead of being man in sort of a way. They run away from there fears instead of fighting their battles(which Malcom does later).

Interpretation: Lady Macebeth is telling Macebeth that he needs to man up because even if it was her child she still would go through with it if it was for the good of the world. She is trying to convince him to kill the king.

Interpretation: lady macebeth wants her husband to become a king and she is willing to do anything for it. She is upset to find out that when she asked Macebeth to kill the king he said he would but earlier he said he would. She gets mad and says that he is not a man.

Context: Lady Macbeth says this quote when she starts to see Banquo. She is basically losing her mind and going crazy. When she sees Banquo she starts acting very odd and not like herself. She takes Macbeth aside from everything and she asks him if he is a man.
Interpret: In the book it says only Macbeth can see Banquo so when Lady Macbeth sees Banquo then things get reall weird and she starts going crazy so she ask Macbeth questions on how he is manly and if he is a man.

Joe Mauer In THE Playoffs
Joe "The Show" Mauer Needs to be the home town hero because the whole state of Minnesota is counting on him to lead the Twins to a world series championship, or at least a post-season win. Joe has had success throughout his career with various player achievements.
Joe Mauer is the shinny-star of the minnesota twins. When everyone thinks of him they recall his superb sideburns. Along with those superb sideburns he also has had some superb achievements in his career thus far. He Has won multiple batting titles, an MVP trophy, led all voting for the all-star team, and the biggest contract in franchise history. However, this has little to do with his success in the playoffs. He has never won a playoff game or performed well in the post-season. According to the Article Paging Extraordinary Joe, Joe and Derek Jeter are alike in the way of they are the heros of their team. But Derek actually produces in the playoffs unlike Joe who goes cold when it turns to October. I agree with this totally because Joe is the Home town hero and everyone looks up to him, he should be striving in the playoffs because thats what the team plays for during the regular season, but joe somehow loses it unlike Derek how plays for those moments. Joe needs to step up to the plate during the playoffs because without a superstar quality performance out of him we will have no chance to even compete with those hates Yankees of New York.
