- When Restrepo gets killed on their first mission out is just like when Jenkins dies on their way back from the first mission
- How when they got to the valley they had to be briefed on the situation just as the troop of perry and peewee had to be brief when they landed in vietnam
- When perry and his platoon were in the hooch after the death of Jenkins has the same atmosphere as the hooch of the troops
- When brew died in battle they prayed for him just like when the troop that transferred in from the massacre prayed for their lost soldiers
- in both the book and the movie you could tell there was a brother like bond that happened with the soldiers. they would do anything for one another
- the book and the movie describe how the soldiers were very scared of battle. the book by the description of the feeling and the movie by the look on their faces
- when the troops continue there push to achieve the O.P Restrepo is like how the battalions had to keep pushing back the Vietcong's to get their land back
- Both the troops and the platoon celebrate the death of a brother. the platoon celebrates by cake and the troops by shooting flares off and saying prays for them
- When the soldiers play PSP or Sing and dance its just like how perry and peewee play checkers or volleyball.
- At the end of the book and movie they are really happy to be leaving the hell hole they were in and go back to the world
During the past two weeks of reading and watching war stories really brings to life how much soldiers put on the line for our lives to be normal here over in the states. The book demonstrates how nervous everyone gets when they get into firefights and how brutal it is to be hit or killed during battle. When Perry gets hit the first time, I could almost relate to his pain of the ripping of flesh just by the way it was described, the way he said how it felt like a iron on his wrist just made me think of how bad that would hurt. When i saw how many firefights the troop in the movie got into made me realize how severe it is over in the middle east. The way the soldiers had to tell their family they were doing fine to make their loved one not think there in danger all the time, really stood out because we always assume it not as bad because of what soldiers tell us but when they showed how he lied and the real truth to the war, I just was in au. These wonderful stories of war brought out the reality and true meaning of wars to help me understand how the people put their lives on the line for me.
