I liked reading Night rather than Maus. Night was telling the story of a slave in the first person and in order of how it happened. Maus was telling it in 3rd person and jumping back and forth in form of falshbacks. it was hard for me to focus on the stroy line of Maus because I could not figure out where or what time they were in. In Night, I always knew the general area and time of the wearabouts of Elie. I also didnt like the way that Maus had it as mice and cats. It made it very confusing because I could not relate and often felt that it was just a fiction story. The picture weren't very clear and it was very hard to picture where they were because of the mice and cats. Night distinctaly explained the places and I could myself picture what he was going through, which is much more relevent to me because its my opionon not the authers. When I read Night I feel as if I'm right with Elie in his tremendous and dangerous journy to freedom. Whereas I couldn't with Vladek because the picture couldnt describe the grusome condition with pictures. Night did that very well and that is the main reason why I liked it more than Maus.
I suggest that you have them only read Night because I feel that it describes the Holocost way better than Maus does. Night captures the fear and actuality of what was happeneing during this massive massacure in history. I feel like Maus does not capture this. The Maus books are more for children so that they could understand this even without seeing the grusome pictures. Night i feel is a more appropriate fit for high school students because it is way more mature and I believe that high school students are cappible of reading this great book. All in all, I enjoyed this Unit but would have prefered to just read Night rather than both Night and Maus.
Great job, overall. Misspellings can get distracting.
